ABOUT
Malin Dahl Ødegård is a Norwegian vocalist, rapper, composer, lyricist and DJ from Åndalsnes – now based in Oslo and Trondheim. She has a bachelor degree in jazz vocals from the Jazz Academy at NTNU in Trondheim, in addition to a year of specialization in composing and arranging music.
Since 2021 she has been working for Trondheim Jazzfestival, developing the festivals cultural program for youth and children, focusing on diversity and inclusion, in their project Joyn-In. She also works with communication strategy and social media for Olavsfest in Trondheim.
She is a versatile vocalist, active and contributing in several projects on the Norwegian music scene. Known for her expressive way of performing music, always communicating with great passion and emotion – both as a multifaceted singer and with her explosive, over-the-edge style of rapping.
Her musicality and practice ranges from swing-jazz and free improvisation, singer-songwriter and art-pop, to groovy hip-hop and more experimental mixes of genres; all of this also reflected in her own art and expression as a composer and lyricist.

Current projects:
JUNO (jazz, hip-hop, pop, experimental)
Jul på Romsdalsk (swing-jazz for christmas)
New Banke (club-jazz with Rhythm Skaters)
DJ Miksemalin (for lounge or dancefloor)
Sweet Lorraine Trio (acoustic swing-jazz)
As a composer:
Embrace Her (2023) is a piece written for female choir, and was performed for the first time by Studentkoret Bilyd in Lademoen Kirke, supported by Ung i Kor. Inspired by the thematics of H. C. Andersens tale Piken med svovelstikkene, the composition serves as a hymn dedicated to those who meet similar fates as the girl in the tale – especially in light of the world today.
